New York Abortion Facility Set to Close

Westchester, NY -- The Women's Medical Pavilion abortion facility in Dobbs
Ferry will close this week.

The 20-year-old abortion business, where 60 abortions a week were
performed at its busiest period in the early 1990s, is closing after a
decision by its medical director, Steven Kaali. There was no comment from
the facility on the closing, and staff refused to allow a reporter onto
the premises yesterday.

Village officials, including Dobbs Ferry Mayor Brian Monahan, as well as
sources in the local pro-abortion movement, said they could confirm that
it was closing. Boxes and large bins full of debris and office supplies
were visible around the office premises yesterday. Callers were told the
abortion business is closing Friday because Kaali is retiring.

Abortion services will continue to be provided at Planned Parenthood in
White Plains, the next closest abortion facility.

"Our prayers have come to fruition,'' said Elizabeth Costanzo of
Hastings-on-Hudson, president of the Right to Life Coalition of Lower
Westchester. "We look forward to closing a few more in the county.''
